Getting here and about …
Public transport is punctual and easy to use. There is the train service called Fertagus connecting the Peninsular from Setubal to Lisbon and there is the bus system TST which has a map of routes throughout the Peninsular and up to Lisbon and even down to Algarve. Taxis are not expensive and it is a good idea to have a number of one to avoid drinking and driving.
Coming from Lisbon: Areeiro, Entre Campos, Sete Rios and Campolide. From any of these four underground stations you can take the train to Lisbon southside. The main stops are Coina for Azeitao, Palmela and Setubal.Tickets must be bought before boarding the train at either the counters or the ticket vending machines found inside the station.
The main Terminal for the bus system : T.S.T. Transportes Sul Tejo, is in Setubal on Avenida 5th Outubro in a green building. The buses are air conditioned.
Coming from Lisbon Airport follow the signs A1 North-Porto. Approximately 3 Km at junction 1 follow signs to A12 Sul – Ponte Vasco da Gama. Cross the bridge. Exit A12 at junction 3 and follow signs to IC13 -Montijo & Barreiro. Follow IC13, pass Montijo (Montijo Forum on your right) then after Barreiro exit take the next exit signposted Azeitao/Coina. Go straight over the roundabout, pass the BP petrol station and turn right at the T junction. Down to the traffic lights and around the roundabout and then continue along the EN10 in the direction of Setubal. Total distance: 39.6 km – Estimated time: 40 Minutes.
