The boat’s captain and owner Alex, has even taken her to Brasil and back. We met up with him outside the Clube Naval, which is at the furthest end of the seafront road, at 11am. We packed a picnic but Alex can organize a lunch on board if you prefer. We navigated our way around the coastline down to Cabo Espichel, where upon the cliff edge stands a solitary church and monastery dating from the 17th century. We found a suitable place to anchor, and there we stayed a while to swim and enjoy our lunch. On our return trip the wind was behind us so, we shut of the engine and let the huge red sails fill as we were silently carried back to Sesimbra.

We disembarked  at around 4pm, just in time to pander to my low sugar levels and go to the ice cream parlour in the centre of town. Chocolate and pistacio flavours later gave way to cold beers and laughter and before we knew it, it was time for dinner!  A few steps in front of us was Tony’s, the most famous restaurant in Sesimbra and you will understand why once you see their selection of seafood.

What a day!
