There are 20 miles of fine, white sanded, atlantic coastline divided up into individual lively beaches in the summer.
Many have organised activities like keep fit and volleyball and some beaches have bars and restaurants open until late with music and dancing like Morena, Cabanas and Sereia. They are connected together by an open-air train that runs from May to September. Ring the bell to stop at the beach of your choice.
Caparica itself is a fishing village, its historic role defined by the brightly painted sardine boats on the cliff above the beach, next to the old Capuchin monastery. There is a daily fish market (except on Mondays), restaurants and all-right beach cafes.
